We proudly provide care to those injured in motor vehicle accidents (auto accidents).
In motor vehicle accidents, the extent of injuries can vary greatly. Most common injuries resulting from car accidents are what are called “soft tissue” injuries. These are injuries to the muscles, tendons and ligaments.
At first, although these injuries may not appear or present themselves as significant as fractures for example, they are not necessarily less important.
Soft tissue injuries if not treated can often result in chronic pain of the area of injury, headaches, limitation of the ability to partake in activities of daily living and seemingly unexplained pain. The pain sometimes may appear to be unexplained because the pain returns months to years after the date of injury.
Injuries resulting from motor vehicle accidents can vary in intensity and severity. This depends on multiple factors some of which include the speed of the impact, whether the occupant was using a seat belt or not, position of the vehicles during the impact, the position of the patient within the vehicle during the impact, the age of the patient, the health and fitness level of the patient during the impact, the safety rating of the vehicle the injured person was occupying and many other factors.
We have years of experience evaluating and treating those injured in motor vehicle accidents.
Qualified Medical Evaluator
Dr. Arbi Mirzaians is a Qualified Medical Evaluator (QME) appointed by the State of California.
QME’s are qualified physicians who are certified by the Division of Workers’ Compensation – Medical Unit to examine injured workers to evaluate disability and write medical-legal reports. The reports are used to determine an injured worker’s eligibility for workers’ compensation benefits
Arbi Mirzaians, D.C. proudly serves this role. It is the responsibility of the QME to timely issue reports to expedite patient care and benefits as may be appropriate. He is well experienced with the reporting duties of the QME and well versed in the AMA Guides, 5th Edition.
Dr. Arbi Miraians is excited to provide care for injured workers.
He is well versed in the reporting duties of the Primary Treating Physician for Workers’ Compensation claims. You can rely on prompt, accurate and thorough reporting. Dr. Arbi Mirzaians proudly provides compassionate care for his patients and understands the intricacies involved with the effects and handling of such cases.
When an employee is injured at work, he/she is entitled to medical care under workers’ compensation insurance.
As a chiropractor in the California Workers’ Compensation system he plays a unique role. A chiropractor serves a role similar to that of a therapist wherein actual hands on treatment and rehabilitation is provided as well as the role of the Primary Treating Physician who serves as a doctor who evaluates, diagnoses and makes necessary treatment recommendations for the patient.
The benefits of chiropractic care are significant. There are many studies to support this opinion.
Under California Penal Code Section 550 (a)(1), it is unlawful to “knowingly present or cause to be presented any false or fraudulent claim for the payment of a loss or injury, including payment of a loss or injury under a contract of insurance”. Anyone who violates this subsection is guilty of a felony, punishable, as specified in section 550(c)(1), by:
“Imprisonment in the State Prison for 2, 3, or 5 years; and a Fine not exceeding $50,000 or double the amount of the fraud, whichever is greater.”
Primary Treating Physician
The primary treating physician (PTP) is the physician who is primarily responsible for managing the care of an employee who has been injured at work.
It is the responsibility of this doctor to perform a comprehensive examination related to the areas injured at work.
This doctor evaluates the injured worker for the purpose of rendering or prescribing treatment and who will likely thereafter monitor the effect of the treatment.
The primary treating physician is the physician selected by the employer or employee. It is the responsibility of the PTP to issue timely reports to inform the involved parties regarding the status and progress of the injured worker.
The PTP also makes appropriate referrals to necessary specialists and for medically necessary diagnostic studies to provide the best care possible to the patient.
It is very important for the PTP to practice “evidence based medicine” in the workers’ compensation arena and to be familiar with the ACOEM Guidelines (American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine), ODG (Official Disability Guidelines), and the MTUS (Medical Treatment Utilization Schedule).
Dr. Arbi Mirzaians serves as a primary treating physician and is well versed in the Guidelines.
Functional Capacity Evaluation
Dr. Mirzaians has extensive experience and training in the area of Functional Capacity Evaluations. An FCE is a comprehensive examination that is used to evaluate an injured worker, typically, to determine his or her ability to return to work after an injury.
A quality FCE that is reliable, is a multifaceted and complex evaluation that requires the understanding of both the evaluator, as well as the referring doctor, in its level of complexities and pitfalls. At Physical Rehabilitation Services, Inc., the highest quality FCE’s are performed using protocols and criteria establish by the most reputable FCE training systems as well as the Medical Treatment Utilization Schedule (MTUS) established by the State of California.
At the offices of Dr. Arbi Mirzaians, chiropractic manipulative therapy is provided along with the most recent and effective myofascial release techniques (injury-specific tissue work) to assist with the resolution or management of chronic pain. The focus is not placed on just passive treatment. Rehabilitation therapies, stretches and strengthening exercises are also provided in the latter phases of care for active care.
Chiropractic is “remarkably safe” and is a form of healthcare that avoids invasive procedures, surgeries and/or addictive drugs. There is certainly the place for invasive procedures, but with the current public trend of resorting to conservative and wellness care, chiropractic is one of the first and most ideal forms of such patient care.
Chiropractic is based on a scientific fact that your body is a self-healing organism. Recovery from injuries and maintenance of health is promoted through changes in lifestyle.
There are traditional forms of chiropractic care which only focus on manipulation of the spinal bones to promote health. Although there continue to exist many chiropractors with this philosophy, Dr. Arbi Mirzaians is proud to incorporate all forms of specialists to assist patients in recovering from their injuries. With more recent advances in the chiropractic educational programs over the past decades, chiropractic and chiropractic providers have become more medical mainstream and work closely with medical doctors and osteopaths to promote the well being of the patient in all necessary aspects.
