When an employee is injured at work, he/she is entitled to medical care under workers’ compensation insurance. As a chiropractor in the California Workers’ Compensation system he plays a unique role. A chiropractor serves a role similar to that of a therapist wherein actual hands on treatment and rehabilitation is provided as well as the role of the Primary Treating Physician who serves as a doctor who evaluates, diagnoses and makes necessary treatment recommendations for the patient.
The benefits of chiropractic care are significant. There are many studies to support this opinion.
Under California Penal Code Section 550 (a)(1), it is unlawful to “knowingly present or cause to be presented any false or fraudulent claim for the payment of a loss or injury, including payment of a loss or injury under a contract of insurance”. Anyone who violates this subsection is guilty of a felony, punishable, as specified in section 550(c)(1), by: “Imprisonment in the State Prison for 2, 3, or 5 years; and a fine not exceeding $50,000 or double the amount of the fraud, whichever is greater.”
